Obituary Cleopatra D. Brown was born on March 25, 1936 in Patterson, Mississippi, to Rev. Davenport R. Beal and Gertrude (Walker) Beal. She was the youngest of five children, Eddie, Amelda, Ralph and Isaac. Cleopatra and her family moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was very young. Progressive Baptist Church became the family church where she was also baptized. She attended the Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Wendell Phillips High School where she met her high school sweetheart Flord W. Brown. She attended Cortez Peters Business College after graduating in January 1955. On January 26, 1958 they were married and from this marriage two children were born. Flord Wesley Jr. And Tondalia. Cleopatra worked for Spiegel Catalog, Travis Realty, McCrone Associates and Internal Revenue Service for many years. Cleopatra retired from the IRS as an auditor in 2002. Cleopatra was a devoted and amazing mom, sister, grandmother and friend. She loved to sing, and make everyone smile. She and her husband attended many parties over the years and were great dancers. She loved to make everyone happy and accepted everyone for who they were. She impacted everyone with her own personal sayings: “I’m a little piece of leather and I’m well put together now hit me and nobody has hit me yet” “Oh Dear, dear, dear” “That’s my sister, I love my sister” “I’m a people person” In 2002, Cleopatra was diagnosed with Dementia which over the years developed into Alzheimer’s disease. Suffering for 20 years on January 22, 2022 her illness took a turn for the worst. On the morning of February 12, she was called home to be with the lord. She is survived by two siblings: Amelda S. Parker and Isaac Beal (MaryBeth); one daughter, Tondalia Roberts, Champaign, IL; four grandchildren, Westley McNeil, Tondalia Gould (Clydell), Tiara Roberts, and Tamia Roberts; and five great grandchildren, Cameryn Gould, Caleb Gould, Caden Gould, Ivory King, and India King. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Eddie and Ralph, her husband Flord W. Sr. and son Flord W. Jr. A celebration of life will commence at 12pm, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Leek & Sons- Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11am until the start of the service.
