Luxton March 28, 1932 – September 3, 2022 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Clayton Edward Luxton, 90, of Lansdale, died Saturday, September 3, 2022 after a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Blackwood) Luxton, his wife of 65 years. Born March 28, 1932 in Minersville, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Caroline (Edwards) Luxton. Mr. Luxton graduated from Northeast High School in Philadelphia and moved to Lansdale in 1959. A loyal and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale, he served on Church Council and various committees over the years, taught Bible studies, and celebrated sixty years of singing in Trinity Choir in 2019. Clayton was also active in the community. In the 1970s, he led Wheels for Living, a small group that raised funds to bring one of the first wheelchair-accessible vans to the North Penn area. He also sang in Schwenckfelder Choir for several years. Clayton was proud of his over forty years of employment at DuPont, where he worked in offices in Philadelphia, Wynnewood, and Wilmington, DE. Following his retirement in 1992, he and his wife enjoyed RVing with the Good Sam Jersey Skeeters and Winnebago Delware Valley Winnies. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda E. Liou (Chyr Pyng “Jim”) of Moscow, Idaho, and Helen L. Houpt (John) of Carlisle. He also leaves four grandchildren, Jennifer Liou (John Novak), Trevor Liou (Brittany), J. Alexander Houpt (Stephanie), and Kirsten Burcat (Richard); eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cora, Sarah, and Benjamin Liou, John and Juniper Novak, J. Benjamin Houpt, and Jonah Burcat; a niece, Joyce Schafer; and two nephews, Gerald Schafter (Pat) and Joseph Schafter (Rory). He was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian. Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, Philadelphia. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Clayton’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, address above.
