Clara C. Sype, age 98, of Atlanta, Michigan formerly of Brownstown, passed away on August 12, 2022. Born on April 25, 1924 in Brownstown, Michigan, she was the daughter of James and Clara (Thomas) Mathewson. In 1942 she married Kenneth Sype in Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe. She was self employed as a caterer for 15 years. Clara was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Flat Rock. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Grace Hicks, Cecil Mathewson, Edward Mathewson, Edmund Mathewson, Emerson Mathewson and Leon Mathewson, and grandson Jesse Sype. She is survived by her sons Kenneth Otto (Jane) Sype, Edward Richard (Mary) Sype and James Calvin (Juliane) Sype; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel, Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 4-8 pm. Funeral Services will be 11 am Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at St Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 25375 E. Huron River Dr., Flat Rock, MI. Rev. Mark Kipfmiller will officiate. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
