Bouchie entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2021, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Lena Bouchie; brother, Eugene R. Bouchie; and his two sons, Michael C. and Stephen F. Bouchie. Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bouchie; children, David (Lisa) Bouchie, James (Charla) Bouchie, and Thomas (Cindy) Bouchie; siblings, Carlene (Gene) Ogle, Veronica (Lou) Hagene, and Donna Bouchie; grandchildren, Michael (Em) Merritt, Timothy Bouchie, Tara (Sean) McConathy, Darrell Bouchie, Anne (Clint) Pigg, Luke (Candy) Bouchie, Adam (Paige) Bouchie, Ben Bouchie, Megan (Cole) Miller, Chad Bouchie, Chase Bouchie, AJ (Lizzy) Bouchie, CJ Bouchie, Katie (Coleman) Beddingfield, Hunter Bouchie, and Hannah Bouchie; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was known as “grandpa” to his grandchildren, “paw-paw” to his great-grandchildren, and “Charlie” to his friends. Charles was born in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Hadley Tech High School in 1952 as a mechanical draftsman, and also enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserve (~5 yrs) out of Lambert Field, MO. Falling in love as high school sweethearts, Charles and Mary Ann married on July 17, 1954, about the time Charles became a St. Louis Police Officer. A few years later, Charles returned to the drafting trade and moved his wife and growing family to O’Fallon, MO, working for Monsanto Chemical Company. As an active member of the community there, he was asked to run for Mayor of O’Fallon in 1970 but was subsequently defeated. A down-turn in the economy caused them to seek new opportunities for employment, which brought them to Alexandria, LA in 1971. In 1973, he started his own business as an independent contractor with Bouchie Remodeling and became an active member of the Homebuilders Association. In 1975, he joined the LA Army National Guard and remained active until retiring in 1994. He worked with the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and State Militia out of Camp Beauregard until his full retirement in 1998. Later, Charles & Mary Ann traveled a short while in their mobile home, lived on Nantachie Lake, Montgomery, LA, then England Air Park, Alexandria, and finally in Natchitoches, LA, all along the way, making many good friends. Everywhere Charles and Mary Ann lived, they were very active within their local Catholic Parishes, serving as Eucharistic Ministers, Parish council members (President), as well as a 3rd-degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Charles willingly and selflessly gave of his tremendous talents, time, and treasure, to the work of ministry through the church. Charles was very proud of his sons, and the proud father of his 5 daughter’s -in-law. He was blessed to be very active in all of his children’s lives and activities and tried to show his active support by being present at performances, games, etc…but he also thanks God that he has lived long enough to see great-grandchildren and watch the Bouchie legacy of Godly love and Christian faith continue. In memory of Charles and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Parish, Fr. John O’Brian, 911 5th St. Natchitoches, LA 71457.
