Obituary Derry, NH: Charles Eugene Ethier, Sr., 92, longtime resident of Haverhill, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at his home in Derry, peacefully in his sleep. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late Charles and Ida (Cote) Ethier, he attended Haverhill schools, was drafted into the United States Navy in December 1947, and served until February 1950. He returned home graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1954. Charles worked first for Western Electric Co. and AT & T Technologies, before retiring from Lucent Technologies in 1990. He was an active member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Rita’s Parish. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charles enjoyed “taking it easy” and slowing down to take in life’s precious moments. An avid fisherman and camper, he had many family trips to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and at the family camp in Parsons Field. He also was a card shark, some of his favorite card games were poker, 45’s, and 65’s. A foodie at heart, his fondest family memories were “prince Wednesday’s “, which was a weekly family spaghetti dinner. Above all, spending time with family and friends was most important. Charles will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his three sons, Charles Ethier, Jr., and his wife, Kathy of Kingston, NH, Jeffrey Ethier of Parsons field, ME, and Michael Ethier and his wife, Minerva of Plaistow; grandchildren, Andrea Ethier–Wijsen and her husband, Seadon of Kingston, Derek Ethier of Kingston, Crystal Nolet and her husband, Keith of Derry, Stephanie Ethier of Haverhill; great grandchildren, Cal Wijsen, Emma Nolet, Thomas Ethier and Sophia Rogers. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Ethier in January, her son, Paul Ethier and grandson, Noah Ethier and siblings, Richard, Paul, Claire, Irene, Cecile, and Gloria. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 10:00am until 12 O’clock Noon at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will be at 12:15pm in the funeral home and followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Plaistow.
