Charles’ Obituary After many years of battling a serious illness, Charles Esquibel 83, a devoted Catholic, of Las Vegas, passed away on October 20, 2022 with his loving wife, Martha, and family by his side. He was born on August 23, 1939, the ninth child of twelve, born to Emilio Esquibel Sr. and Libradita Tafoya in Ledoux, NM. He worked on the family ranch as a young boy, later moving to Wyoming where he worked on the railroad helping to support his mother and siblings. In 1956 he met his wife, Martha in Los Angeles, California. Charles and Martha were joined in marriage on February 24, 1959. Together they raised a family of four children. In the 60’s he was a truck driver for Ram’s Express later establishing Pavon Furniture, a family made chain of stores throughout California with his brother, Alfonso and their wives. He was a master furniture designer, builder, and upholsterer teaching his wife to create sofa sets that were very popular in the industry. He was well-known for his outstanding craftsmanship throughout Southern California. He later worked independently on his furniture business and returned home to be closer to family in Las Vegas, NM. In the 80’s he was employed by New Mexico Highlands University as an upholsterer, a boiler room operator, and eventually retiring as a plumber. He received his plumbing and heating contractor’s license, and he was the owner and operator of Chase Plumbing and Heating. He was also a hard working cattleman raising and selling registered Red Limousin Bulls, a French breed of beef cattle. He enthusiastically worked every day of his life devoted to his cattle ranches and animals in Ledoux until he suffered a severe stroke in 2009.He lived the remainder of his life with challenging health issues continuing to be strong at heart and devoted to his family and his Catholic faith. He loved spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren. He was greatly loved, and he will be extremely missed. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Vincent, parents, and numerous siblings. He is survived by his wife, Martha, and children Theresa, Lisa (Mark) Guerin, and Mark. Grandchildren, Vincent Jr., Tanya, Dominic, Christopher, Kristin (Ramon) Arenivar, and Juliana. Siblings Antonio (Deborah) Esquibel and Ernestine (d.Charles) Oden. Great granddaughters Arria and Aubree his greatest joys. Rosary services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on October 28 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services October 29 at 9:00 a.m. Burial October 30th at 3:00 p.m. Mount Calvary Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Mark Esquibel, Dominic Guerin, Christopher Flores, Juliana Guerin, Mark Guerin, Antonio Esquibel, Jeff Esquibel, Ramon Arenivar and Melissa Ramirez.
