Carrol was born July 16, 1937 in Havana, Arkansas to the late Carl & Lena Bull Ramey. He was a 1955 graduate of Danville High School. After graduation, he began dating Florene James, after taking her on their first date to an Elvis Presley concert. The date was so successful that they subsequently married, and remained married for 68 years. Carrol began his adult employment at the Joe Ray Chicken Plant and later was employed managing laying houses for Joe Ray, Inc. From there, he became employed at Bridgestone/Firestone, where he worked for 34 years, and retired as lead maintenance man. Carrol was a member of the Danville First Baptist Church and a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard where he retired after 22 years of service, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During this period, Carrol was a member of the Danville City Council for 37 years, where he served on the city police commission and numerous other committees. After his years of employment, Carrol spent 23 years in retirement enjoying his family, camping, bush-hogging, and traveling. Carrol was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Ramey. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Florene Ramey; sons & daughters-in-law, Rick & Jessie Ramey of Belleville and Jerry Don & Brenda Ramey of Dardanelle; grandchildren, Samantha Ramey of Belleville; Augustus & Kelli Ramey of Conway; Woodrow & Tayler Ramey of Springdale; great-grandchild, Collins Ramey of Conway; and sister, Frances Burrows of Danville. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karen James for all the love and care she provided to Carrol and continues to provide to Florene. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 16, at the Cornwell Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Danville First Baptist Church with Bro. W.A. Gorman officiating. Burial will be at Earl Ladd Cemetery, with military honors. Pallbearers include Rick Ramey, Jerry Don Ramey, Augustus Ramey, Woodrow Ramey, Brody Ramey, Bruce Ramey, David Dickey, Tinker Hefner, Randy Hefner and Benny James.
