Obituary of Carol Ann Horstmann Carol Ann Horstmann (née Gontarek), 76, of Hammonton, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 9, 2022. Beloved wife of Henry Horstmann. Loving mother of Michele Anne Horstmann-McBride, Jennifer Anne Auberzinsky (Ryan) and the late Cheryl Anne Betz (Richard). Cherished grandmother of Timothy McBride, Richard Betz, Christian Auberzinsky, Zachary Betz (Rebecca), Kyle Betz and the late Kaden Betz and great grandmother of Emma. Loving Sister, Aunt and Friend, she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Carol was born in Philadelphia, PA, on May 16, 1946. Carol married her lifelong companion Henry Horstmann on October 17, 1964. The two were blessed with 58 beautiful years of marriage and three wonderful children. Strong in her Catholic faith, Carol spent many years working closely with the church in organizations such as The Altar and Rosary Society. Carol was a CCD teacher for many years and a chaperon for the Journey Retreat Program. Later in life, Carol worked in the hospitality industry, serving the public for over 20 years while forming lifelong friendships with those around her. Carol’s true joy in life came from her family. Whether it be family vacations to Ocean City, NJ and Sanibel, FL, or the time spent during the holidays in which she was known for making extra special, Carol’s devotion to her family came second to none. A grandmother to many, Carol would tell you herself just how proud she is of each of her grandchildren. From birth and through life, she was there at every milestone, showing endless love and support. Carol will be remembered as a gentle, kind, loving soul whose presence alone could light up a room. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday September 16, 2022 from 9:30AM to 11:00AM at St. Joseph Church, 220 Third St., Hammonton NJ. Memorial mass 11:00AM. The family requests if you wish to please wear purple, which was Carol’s favorite color. Interment of ashes will follow in the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Mays Landing NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions to either Samaritan Hospice at PO Box 71425, Philadelphia PA 19176 or Cancer Support Community at 5614 Connecticut Ave. NW Ste 280, Washington DC 20015 would be appreciated.
