Mr. Carl Tony Harris, age 66, of Fairburn, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 21, 1956 to the late Carl and Mary Harris. Tony Harris grew up in Mountain View and Riverdale and lived in Georgia for most of his life. He graduated from Georgia State University in 1983 with a BS in Middle Childhood Education and studied photography at the Southeastern Center of the Arts in 1988. He carried his passion for photography through the rest of his life. After teaching at Lake Harbin Elementary School, he worked for many years in the parking industry in Atlanta. He retired in 2018 and continued to work on his garden as well as participating in the Corvette Club and volunteering at the local Food Bank. He was an excellent photographer, creative carpenter, frequent outdoorsman, chef extraordinaire, avid gardener, and voracious reader, loyal patron of the arts, the King of Putt Putt, and a master of Dad jokes. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Joan Harris; his children, Stephen C. Cole and his wife, Alice, Michael C. Cole and his wife, Susan, Harper W. Harris and his wife, Michelle, Kendall Zavodny and her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Thea, Taeo, Aovai, Liz, Jackson; great grandchild, Vivian; brothers, Keith Harris and his wife, Teresa, Joe Harris and his wife, Teri, John Harris and his wife, Iris; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. The service will be held at Lester Road Christian Church on December 11th at 1pm In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Midwest Food Bank of Peachtree City at www.midwestfoodbank.org.
