Obituary Burton Warren Young Sr., 73 of Sevierville, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022. Burton graduate from Hume Fogg High School in Nashville, TN where he developed his love for music and playing guitar. He graduated from the Meto Nashville Police Academy in 1972 before serving on the Metro Nashville Police Department for 10+ year. He and his late wife Gladys moved to Sevier County where he loved living in the Smokies. After moving to Sevier County, he went to work as a car salesman for Volunteer Chevrolet. He loved watching the Tennessee Vols and enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, eating good food, but even more so he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Young; mother, Ruth Young; and special aunt, June Henderson. He is survived by his son, Burton Young Jr.; daughter, Dawn McMackins (Mark); grandchildren, Emily Young, Steven McMackins (Kirsten), and Maria McMackins; sisters, Mary Carter (Desmond) and Gloria Shockney (Ray); and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 10AM-12PM Friday October 14, 2022 in Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel with service to follow at 12PM. Following the service family and friends will make their way into Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens for graveside service and interment with Brother Brett Mebane officiating. Read more
