Bryan S. Smith, of Oakley passed away on May 31st from an unexpected heart attack; he was 49 years old. He was born in Vallejo and graduated from Benicia High School in 1991 and then promptly joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country from 1991 – 1997. After his service he began working as a power plant operator, which he continued for more than 22 years, most recently at Calpine. Bryan was a loving husband, devoted father, and active member of his community. He was an avid sports fan of both the 49ers and Giants. You could often hear him shouting at the games from around the corner. He had a fabulous sense of humor and did not usually take himself too seriously. He liked a good debate and never sugar coated anything but had a wonderful heart and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Bryan was loved deeply by his family and friends, and will be missed greatly. He is survived by his wife Maritsa; sons Jonathan & Joshua; his father Lee SmithII & stepmother Kathy Smith; mother Vicki Adams & stepfather Tom Adams; grandfather Frank Lessard; sister Heather Wiessler & brother-in-law Nic Wiessler; brother Brandon Smith; nephews Sammy & Jacob Wiessler, father-in-law Juan Olan, mother-in-law Secundina Olan, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Tony & Vickie Olan, nephews Steven Olan, wife Lindsey & son Miggy, and Christian Olan, including a host of aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
