Obituary Please share a memory of Brent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends. View Tribute Book Mapleton – Brent M. Boyles, 65, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022. He was born June 3, 1957, in Presque Isle, the son of Murrey and Ardis (Condon) Boyles. Brent was a true patriot. He loved his country very much and lived his life in service of others. He grew up in Mapleton and was a member of the Boy Scouts, where he attained the distinction of becoming an Eagle Scout. Following his graduation from Presque Isle High School in 1975, he received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, from which he graduated in 1979, earning a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Applied Sciences and Engineering. Some of his early military assignments included serving in the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg and as a Company Commander in combat during the 1983 invasion of Grenada. Since leaving active duty in 1984, he served in the Maine Army National Guard, where he retired as a Brigadier General. Brent also had a long career at Maine Public Service, where he started in the engineering department and after many years of service and succession, earned the promotion to President and CEO of Maine & Maritimes Corporation / Maine Public Service. Brent was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed golfing at Portage Hills Country Club. Brent also loved the family camp at Portage Lake and treasured the times spent there with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Duska Boyles of Mapleton, a son Bradlee Boyles of Mapleton, a daughter, Morgan McGary of Mapleton, a daughter, Melissa Rusteikas and her husband Scott of Concord, NC, eight grandchildren: Olivia, Aiden, Blaine, Lola, Brycen, Evritt, Ean, and Finley. Brent also leaves behind two sisters: Torry Eaton and her husband Michael of Otisfield, Trudy DeBlois and her husband Dale of Winthrop, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Brent was predeceased by three siblings: Teremy Boyles, Bryan Boyles, and Tamra Robertson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital, for all their care and compassion, during this time. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted 1pm Friday, October 7, 2022, at Southside Cemetery, West Chapman Rd, Mapleton, with Pastor Keenan Eaton officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to a time of refreshment and remembrance at the Mapleton Lions Club, immediately following the service.
