Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Jean Monroe will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Harmony Baptist Church, Glenmora, with Reverends Benji Rhame and D.K. Lemmons officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Melder, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mrs. Monroe, 94, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion was her “therapy garden.” She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, loved her church, and worshipping the Lord. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Monroe; her parents, Horace Rhame, Sr. and Amanda Rhame; one son, Gary Monroe; one daughter, Donna Jenkins; three brothers, Claude Rhame, Columbus Rhame, and Horace Rhame, Jr.; and three sisters, Zuma Bruce; Maxine Roberts, and Verna Dousay. Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Keith Monroe, and wife Karen, of Glenmora; one son-in-law, Rodney Jenkins, and wife Wanda, of Bayou Chicot; one daughter-in-law, Angela Monroe of Pineville; one sister, Elizabeth Smith of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Jeff Jenkins, and wife Heather, Sharon Blankenship, and husband Bruce, April Monroe, Amanda Russell, and husband James, Lee Anne Andries, and husband Dave, and Sarah Jaye Monroe; eleven great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held at the Harmony Baptist Church, Glenmora, on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the youth and pre-teen department at Harmony Baptist Church.
