Obituary Beverly K. Joy passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, at her home in Mount Vernon, WA. Beverly was born in Everett, WA on July 15, 1933, the youngest of Clarence and Rhea Keith’s five children. The Keith family moved to Skagit County in 1946, where Beverly remained a county resident for the rest of her life. Beverly married Roy Pyatte; together they raised four children in Concrete, WA. Beverly married Gene Joy in 1992. They resided in Mount Vernon. Gene preceded her in death in 2018. Beverly was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 23 years. After her retirement in 1992, she was a long-time volunteer bookkeeper for the Skagit Valley Hospital gift shop. Later she made many friends as a member of the hospital’s group exercise program. Throughout the years, Beverly was rarely without a loyal canine companion. Beverly and Gene created a National Wildlife Federation-certified backyard wildlife sanctuary surrounding their Mount Vernon home. They enjoyed the towering evergreen trees that provided shelter for the many birds that dined at the feeders. Nurturing an organic vegetable garden came naturally, as Beverly was an accomplished Master Gardener. Fiercely independent, Beverly was determined to live in her home until the very end. She was fortunate to accomplish that goal. Beverly is survived by one son, Keith Pyatte, and his wife Ardele; three daughters: Jo Gregory, Janice Keith, and Cindy Attar; four grandchildren: Tiffany Holm, Jenni Fournier, Ryan Pyatte, and Jeff Gregory; and numerous great-grandchildren. Beverly’s ashes will be inurned at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA, next to multiple generations of the Keith family. Per her request, there will be no funeral. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The family gratefully thanks her caregivers and hospice for the excellent care received in the remaining months of her life.
