View Tribute Book Barbara “Barb” Petey, 82, of Center Township, passed away peacefully Sunday morning November 6, 2022, at St Barnabas Beaver Meadows in Brighton Township, Pa. Born March 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Sophia Braszo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas G. Petey, and her sister Debra Cook. Barb was a 1958 graduate of Saint Rosalia High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. Following high school, she was employed by Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh where she progressed through the ranks. She left the workforce to become a full-time mom to her children, whom she leaves behind; Mark (Sherrie) Petey, Monaca, Sheryl (Scott) Rice, Brighton Township, and Craig (Mary Alison) Petey, Murphys, California. She cherished her grandchildren: Zachary, Brianna, Lucas, and Betty Petey. She will also be sadly missed by her granddog, Nikita, whom she visited daily until her health prevented her from doing so. Barb re-entered the work force, working at the Penn State University, Beaver Campus, as the Assistant to the Campus Registrar. She retired with over 25 years of experience. Barb will be remembered for her deep love for her family. She was an excellent cook and baker and was known for frequent visits, bringing along with her prepared meals and treats to share. Holidays were also full of Slavic traditions. Barb attended numerous youth, high school, and college sporting events for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed Friday Night Lights and cheering at local high school football games as well as watching the bands perform. In her pastime, Barb enjoyed watching humming birds and wild birds and kept the feeders full. She mastered building 1000+ piece-puzzles in a handful number of days. Barb and her husband enjoyed traveling later in life. Her most memorable vacation was seeing the wild horses roam freely in Nevada. This trip was organized by chance, meeting a retired Nevada park ranger on a plane trip coming home from Alaska. The family would like to thank the aides, nurses, and staff at the St Barnabas Beaver Meadows Assisted Living Facility for their love and care for Barb over the past few years during her decline in health. Of these individuals, the family would especially like to thank Tammie and Megan who became Barb’s best friends and support while there. They were often referred to as her “Dream Team.” Friends will be received Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 3pm until 7pm at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, INC., CENTER TWP., 3475 Brodhead Rd, Monaca, PA, 15061, where a service will be held Friday, November 11, 2022, at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at Mary, Queen of Saints Parish, St Francis Cabrini Church, Center Twp. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 212 9th St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Read more
