Barbara Ann Guajardo 87, of Lubbock, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022. Barbara was born on October 31, 1934, in Lubbock, Texas, to Charlie Cecil and Cordie Knott. Barbara married Tony Guajardo in 1957, and they were married until Tony’s passing on March 4, 1999. They had one son, Michael Greg Guajardo. Barbara graduated from Frenship High School in 1953, and obtained her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degrees in Education from Texas Tech University in 1957. Barbara taught English and Reading in the Lubbock ISD, as well as in Slaton, Texas and the Frenship ISD. Barbara retired from teaching in 2001, but continued to work as a consultant at Frenship ISD for several years. She obtained her real estate broker’s license, and worked as a broker in Lubbock for many years. Barbara loved to write, especially poetry, having several poems published. She loved music, the theater, and was an avid Texas Tech fan. She was a volunteer for Lubbock Meals on Wheels and Covenant Hospital. Barbara was a member at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas. Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Guajardo and his wife Tiffany McGee, her two loving granddaughters, Kacy Guajardo and Annie Guajardo, her nieces Carmela Delacruz and Carlena Knott, and her nephews Rodney Knott and Dale Knott. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Cecil and Cordie Knott, her husband Tony Guajardo, and her two brothers Duane and Carl Knott. Services will be held at Sanders Funeral Home on October 26th at 10:00 am. Memorials can be made to Lubbock Meals on Wheels or the Lubbock Children’s Home.
