Williams, 78, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 4, 1944 in Utica, the son of the late Michael and Theresa (Luczko) Williams. Arthur was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and furthered his education at Utica College, graduating with a Bachelor degree in business and finishing with a Master’s degree in education. He was employed with Ilion High School as a business teacher retiring in 2003. Arthur didn’t stay retired for long and returned to work as a substitute teacher for another 18 years with the new Central Valley Academy in Ilion and was often referred to as the “Super Sub”. He coached boys’ basketball and baseball with SUNY Tech, Notre Dame, Sauquoit Valley, New Hartford and Waterville High Schools. Arthur was also an umpire with Mohawk Valley Umpire Association and umped for Little League to College and Legion Baseball for 40 plus years. He was a member of Notre Dame and Utica Sports Hall of fame. Arthur had a passion for cars, old and new, especially corvettes. He loved to listen to music and was a very outspoken fan of the NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. Surviving are his daughter, Lindsay Stiefvater, Utica; son, Brendan (Billie Dee) Williams, Palm Bay, FL; grandchildren, Breanna, Justin, and Marissa Stiefvater, all of Booneville and brother, Dennis Williams, New Hartford. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Geddes and brother, Brian Williams. Arthur’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of the ER and ICU at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the Utica Fire Dept. and Ambulance for all their wonderful care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, from 1-4 pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Funeral services will be on Monday at 1 pm from Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flower donations, if you are able to and comfortable doing so, we would really appreciate any donation, big or small, towards his celebration of life.
