Obituary of Anthony Anzalone To view service, click here; Anthony “Tony” Anzalone 1959 to 2022 On January16 2022, our larger-than-life Tony passed on suddenly. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years Darla Kay, his son’s Brock and Adam Christopher (Rowan), daughter Sarah Allyson; his mother Iris, brother Jeffrey, and sisters Monique Androne and Nina Vega (Juan); his grandchildren Sneaux, Jaxsyn, and Talia Anzalone; his aunt Regina Honius (Tim); and MANY beloved family members of the Lyons’, Curry’s, Arsenault’s, and Smith’s. He joins in heaven his father Dennis Anzalone, his father-in-law Jack Lyons, Sr. and brothers-in-law Jackie and Gary Lyons. Born in Cleveland Ohio, Tony grew up in the Brooklyn area where his family was very close with the Lyons’. From earliest childhood, Tony and Darla have been together; through teen years and graduation and marrying soon after. A true high school sweethearts love story. Tony and Darla moved to Virginia where he began his 15 year career in roofing. After sustaining a debilitating injury, Tony stayed home to raise their children– from soccer to dance, he was at them all. He loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, and camping– just being outside. He was famous for his green thumb, always planting and growing flowers, fruits, vegetables. He loved his projects around the house which made their home an oasis for themselves and many friends and family. Having his family and friends around was one of Tony’s joys– there were many annual pool parties, luau’s and picnics; 4th of July celebrations, summer get-aways, or New Year’s Eve gatherings throughout the years. He was the best bartender, grill master, and host–always had a smile and hug, a story, or a joke for everyone. Tony loved his friends and family, he was always available to help out. When he wasn’t home in Virginia doing what he loved, he could be found in Cleveland hanging, helping, hunting, or fishing with his family, or around town with his friends, children and grandchildren–being called Poppy by his grandkids was a huge joy. Tony’s zest for life kept him moving, always doing something or going somewhere. Whether up the road to a different restaurant, to a new casino or show, or around the world on a cruise, he enjoyed seeing, learning, and experiencing the world. He also enjoyed technology and gaming, over the years spending numerous hours online with his son’s and nephews; the GreenHornet659 will be sorely missed. Those that knew him, knew he was a man of character and honesty, he didn’t sugar coat anything and he would be honest in his thoughts and deeds. You also knew he loved his family with sincerity and wholly, even if that meant tough love on occasion. He had his tough exterior and lived his life honestly, just a few of the things we will miss. Tony’s wide smile, steadfast presence, ‘no filter attitude’, and devotion to his Darla are everlasting gifts and inspiration he gave us all! Viewing will be held at 11am on Monday 24 January at the Adams Green Funeral Home in Herndon Virginia; services will be held at Noon with internment at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Drainsville Road in Herndon Virginia. No reception will be held at this time due to C19 concerns. There will be a celebration of life later in the Spring. Please be sure to sign the book to ensure we can reach out.
