Obituary Mrs. Annie H. Land departed this earthly life Monday, September 26, 2022 at Sentara Obici Hospital Suffolk, Virginia enroute to her Heavenly Home with Jesus. She was born August 14, 1920 to Lulu Wiggins Hines and Ernest Hines in Nansemond County Suffolk, Virginia. She is preceded by her late husband Joseph I. Land of more than fifty (50) years and one son, Larry Land. She was also the last of survivor of three sisters and two brothers. After attending school, she met and married Joseph I. Land. In their early years they contributed much to society being the proud owners of a neighborhood grocery store that serviced the community. Mrs. Land was actively involved in the political arena where she was a registered citizen who faithfully voted in the elections. She was a diligent member of the Faith & Hope Charity Club whose goal was to provide scholarships to students after graduating from high school. Mrs. Land was a member of East End Baptist Church since the late Pastor C.J. Word. She was a faithful member who served as an usher and sang in the choir. She was also one of the Sunday School attendees. Mrs. Land was for many years employed by Planters Peanut Company of Suffolk, Virginia and has been retired for more than twenty (40) years. Mrs. Land enjoyed her retirement years and lived a full long enjoyable life. Mrs. Land leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Ellen Deloris Demary of Suffolk, VA, two granddaughters, Laneisha Burke of Portsmouth, Virginia, JoAnna Joseph (Charles) of Hampton, Virginia and one grandson, Larry Land (Rashanda) of Suffolk, Virginia. A great friend for more than 50 years, Mrs. Ruth Richardson of Suffolk, VA. Also, four (4) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, great nieces and nephews and many cousins far and near. A special thanks to Laneisha Burke (granddaughter), Joyce Powell (niece of Tulsa, OK) and Debbie Hodnett (great niece of Washington, DC) for all the love and care shown throughout the years.
