Ann’s Obituary Ann Peterson, mother, grandmother, wife, and daughter died on November 22, 2022 after a long illness. Ann Peterson is survived by her daughters, Julie Peterson Sutphin and Amy Amalia Peterson, and her grandchildren Tara Elizabeth Sutphin, Justin Tyler Sutphin, and Desiree Jewel Peterson. She is preceded in death by her husband Rodney Homeister Peterson, her son-in-law David Sutphin, Jr., and her grandson Aaron Ryan Sutphin. Born in Jamestown, New York in 1932, Ann is the daughter of Kathryn Anderson Parker and Harvey Parker. Ann is a 1949 graduate of Jamestown High School. Ann graduated with a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1953. After graduation, Ann lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ann worked in the Alumni office at Carnegie Mellon University and the Vice Chancellor’s Office at the University of Pittsburgh. After marrying Rodney Peterson in 1960, they lived in Akron, Ohio before settling in Baltimore, Maryland where Ann and Rodney raised their daughters. An active volunteer with many organizations, an avid reader, a glass collector, a lover of the arts, and a family historian, Ann loved travel, drawing, summers at the pool and the beach, and lifelong learning. She was a life member and past President of the American Association of University Women. Raised by strong women, Ann supported women and women’s rights throughout her life serving as a model for her daughters and grandchildren. Ann is most remembered for her unconditional love and constant support for her daughters and her family. Despite her long illness, Mom’s graciousness, joy, humor, strength, and independence continued to shine through. Ann’s daughters are grateful for and awed by the love and care provided to their mother these last few years by her generous and devoted caregivers. Ann will be buried next to her husband Rodney in Vermont. A celebration of her life will be held next month. Read More
