Ryan’s Obituary Ryan B. Thews, age 29 a former Lake Station resident passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020. He was born on November 9, 1991 in Valparaiso, Indiana. Ryan grew up in Lake Station. He worked all over as a Union Painter and Concrete Finisher in which he was thankful to his uncle Joe for teaching him the trade at age of 14. . Ryan loved to cook, and his favorite thing to make was biscuits and gravy that his papa taught him to make. He loved music and always had it in his ears. A favorite was Pink Floyd. Ryan loved the outdoors and nature specifically Tennessee. He loved traveling, and recently made a trip to the upper Peninsula in Michigan to Pictured Rocks National Park with his cousin Tyler just to see the night sky, look at cool waterfalls, and hike! He also loved motorcycles, quads, and being at dirt bike tracks with his Uncle Joeas a little tike. He spent so much time with his best friends, Matt, Timmy, Dylan, Cody, and Marc!! He spoke of them constantly and loved them as brothers! He is survived by his mother, Tina (Curtis) Deaton of Marion, IL; one sister, Alyse Thews of East Chicago, IN; maternal grandfather, James Utley of Lake Station, IN; Paternal Grandparents, Mary (Bill) Halaschak; aunts, Kim (Joe) Kenjic of Hobart, IN; Carla (Kirk) Gliebe of Skokie, IL; Vickie (Greg) Cornett of Kansas City, MO; uncle, James (Noelle) Utley Jr. of Porter, IN; great-aunts, Ava (Bill) Miller, Julian (Luz) Quarnstrom, cousins, Tyler, Connor, Trevor, Matthew, and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alexis Thews, and grandmother, Karen Utley. Memorial donations in Ryan’s honor may be made to James Utley Care of Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. All services will be private due to Covid 19. Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Portage. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel completed arrangements.
