Obituary Fred Mendez, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife and family by his side on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. Born to Fred and Mary (Razo) Mendez, on April 8, 1969. Fred lived his life as a loyal husband, brother, son and friend to many. He was a lifelong mechanic who dedicated his life to helping anyone and everyone who he encountered.. Fred graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Calumet College and volunteered his time at the Veterans outreach on Ridge Road in Gary, until January 2018, when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. On December 23, 2008, Fred married his best friend and soulmate, Sandy. They lived a very happy life together, spending most of their time with their grandchildren, who brought so much joy to them both. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Mendez, Sr. His surviving loved ones include his wife, Sandra (Leal) Mendez; sons, Julian Mendoza (Dania), Brandon Fentress (Sarah), Johnny Vasquez (Karly), Anton Fentress Jr. (Shyanne); daughters, Cristiana Mendez and Bianca Fentress (Damon); his loving mother, Mary (Razo) Mendez; 3 brothers, Michael Mendez (Lila), Anthony and Victor “Danny” Mendez (Brylesha); and proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren, and loving uncle to many.
