Wanda’s Obituary Wanda Hawkins Patterson, 58, of Manteo Trail, Edenton, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born in Chowan County on March 17, 1962, she was the daughter of Walter Raleigh Hawkins, Sr. of Kinston and the late Betty Lou Holmes Ward. Always having a heart of caring for others, she was a registered nurse having most recently been employed with Accordius Health and Rehabilitation in Gatesville until her health no longer permitted. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter R. “Pee Wee” Hawkins, Jr. Surviving along with her father are her daughter, Nikki Ward and husband, Adam, of Hertford; a son, Darik Patterson of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Cindy Taft and Janice Terry, both of Edenton; two granddaughters, Ashlynn and Chloe Ward; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Strick’s Family Campground, 168 Hertford Beach Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor Howard Sutton. Friends may join the family at Nikki and Adam’s home, 2659 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, October 24.
