Though there were many lean and difficult years, she remained the one steady constant in her daughters’ lives. She always made it a priority to provide a safe and loving home for her family. Roberta was born in Pickens County Alabama and grew up in Tuscaloosa County, including Echola and Brownville areas. She attended high school at Tuscaloosa High School and Tuscaloosa County High. While in High School she played the drums in the County High School band. Roberta was a caring nurse for many years and worked at DCH Regional Medical Center, Dr. Shotts office and for Alabama Dermatology. She made many life-long friends during her meaningful career. She enjoyed working with her hands, especially outside cultivating flowers of all types in her yard. While she worked, she loved to sing. Her daughters have fond memories of her singing while ironing, sewing or riding in the car. She shared that beautiful voice with many, in her younger years, in church as well as on the radio. Some of her most defining features were her beautiful smile and youthful appearance. She wore her smile even through the hardest times in her life. Her strength was unmatched and the people around her drew into that strength for support. She loved being around people and could easily make friends anywhere she went. There was never a stranger in her eyes, only opportunities to make new relationships. She had a passion for Alabama Football and loved to yell Roll Tide and text her family during games for fun.
