She was born in Franklin County, North Carolina on August 26, 1953. Mrs. DeWitt was a bus driver for Johnston County Schools. A visitation and funeral service will be held at a later date. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Herbert DeWitt; sons, Reverend Gene DeWitt of Smithfield, and Joel Ryan DeWitt of Selma; brother, Raymond Gilbert of Durham; grandchildren, Jacob, Dennis and Ricky DeWitt.
