John “Bob”‘s Obituary John “Bob” J. Roberts was born January 14, 1935. He grew up in Jersey City, NJ and moved to East Rutherford in 1963. He lived there for 35 years before retiring to Tobyhanna, PA in 1998. Bob was a true patriot. He proudly enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served during the Korean war from 1952-1956. He loved his country and always had a big beautiful American flag on display. He stood for everything red, white and blue. A figure larger than life, Bob loved his family, his friends and his beautiful country, the United States of America. Those fortunate enough to have known him will always remember how he would light up a room the moment he entered. His bright smile and hearty laugh were infectious. He would make everyone he met feel warm and welcome in an instant. Family and friends will forever remember his jokes and one-liners, always making them laugh and leaving them wanting more. The stories he would tell will live on in their hearts forever. Bob mostly enjoyed spending time with his immediate and large extended family. Family was the most important element of his life. Memories of family get togethers, where friends were always welcome, are plentiful; every one of them filled with memories of love and laughter. Bob is survived by his partner of twenty fun-filled wonderful years Adele Dempsey of Tobyhanna, PA, who unselfishly cared for him during his last few years. He is also survived by his children, Glen and Emily Roberts of Mount Arlington, NJ, Maryellen and Dr. David Prager of Bethlehem, PA, Kin Roberts of Henryville, PA, Janet and William O’Connor of Milford, NJ, his brother-in-law William Blomquist and his wife Ghislaine of Naples, FL, grandchildren Erik, Cierra, Stephen, Natalie, Sara, Adam, Belle, Ryan, Kelsey, Adele’s children, Lisa, Donna, Michael and his wife Mia, Adele’s grandchildren Morgan and Maura and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob is pre-deceased by his wife Carol J. Roberts and his son Ronald J. Roberts. Due to Covid 19, services for Bob will be private. A memorial celebration of Bob’s life will take place at a later date when it is safe for everyone to attend.
