Brent F. Denney, 56 years old, from Dorothy, N.J. passed away peacefully, with his wife, Tresna Denney, by his side at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (Mainland Division) on October 13th after a difficult and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Brent was born on May 30, 1964 in Somers Point, NJ to Joy Denney and subsequently adopted by James Denney. Brent spent his childhood growing up in what he referred to as “Birdland.” As an early adult, Brent purchased his first home in Dorothy, NJ where his wife still resides. Brent graduated from Bethel Christian School in Port Republic, NJ. Brent began his career in the Federal Air Marshal Service, first as an Aviation Security Specialist in the security lab at the FAA Tech Center in Pomona. While waiting for an opening in the Federal Air Marshal Service, Brent became a role player for the Federal Air Marshal Program. In 2001 the Federal Air Marshal Service had an opening, and he was sent to Glynco, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia. Brent would proudly tell you his staff number was 003; that the two above him were supervisors. Brent was one of the original pre-9/11 Federal Air Marshals. His service consisted of ensuring the safety of passengers, not only in the airports, but on domestic and international flights. Brent achieved many accomplishments and received numerous accolades during his service. He was required to maintain a level of fitness and weapon proficiency like no other agency. He implemented, headed, and ran the training center medic program for the Federal Air Marshal Service. He was the coordinator of Intelligence Prevention, mission control watch officer, Viper detail, Firearms Tactics Instructor, explosives technician, and sharp shooter training just to name a few. Brent’s Volunteer firefighting career began in the early 90’s with the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company. During this time, he also obtained his EMT-D dispatch/911 communications certification. After moving to Dorothy, Brent joined Estell Manor Volunteer Fire Company as a firefighter and subsequently Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company as a firefighter/EMT where Brent served as acting Lieutenant. In July 2010 Brent received a lifetime achievement award and membership status with Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company. Brent was also Deputy Coordinator for Weymouth Township Emergency Management. Brent unconditional and happily served his community and the public in various ways throughout his life. Brent will be remembered for being a car and gun enthusiast. He could always be found in his garage working on any one of his classic cars, most recently his ‘67 Chevrolet Nova. Brent was a great lover of animals and had been known to open his home to any wayward animal including his beloved squirrels, deer, goats, ducks, chickens and rabbits. Especially his dogs Raven, Rommel, Pyle and Karma his service dog. Brent will he remembered for many things but most importantly the brotherhood and friendships he held so dearly throughout his life. He touched many lives in many different ways. Brent is survived by his wife Tresna; sons Colton, Auston and Darin Dorzan (Dana); and grandsons AJ and Noah. Brent is also survived by Linda Denney; niece Mackenzie; parents James and Joy Denney; father and mother-in-law John and Gail Cunningham; brother-in-law Jonathan Cunningham; niece Brittany Cunningham; his beloved animals; and many great friends and brothers. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St. in Mays Landing.
