Obituary SUMMITVILLE, IN – Susan Ann (Brewster) Stevens, 80, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in her residence following an extended illness. She was born on June 28, 1940 in Muncie to Harry and Ruth (Jones) Brewster and has lived in the Summitville area for the past 60 years. She was a graduate of Anderson High School-Class of 1958. It was at the Alexandria skating rink that Susan met and later married Lowell Stevens in 1958. He then became the one and only love of her life. Susan worked for Point Pizza, formerly of Summitville until 2008. She was a member of the Skoshi Club, Kappa Delta Phi and bowled in Alexandria bowling leagues. She was a skilled artist and expressed herself by sketching and in oil painting. She also liked ceramics and collecting dolls. She was a beloved daughter, spouse, mother, sister, aunt, grandma and loyal friend. Susan was known for opening her home to anyone who needed a warm meal, a place to stay or someone to talk to. She cared fiercely for her loved ones. One of our favorite family traditions were holiday dinners, especially the 4th of July Celebrations. Mom would always open her home for family and friends to celebrate. She was a “mom” and “aunt” to many. Her cooking was well known, and everyone had their favorite dish, such as homemade pancakes, homebrewed sweet tea or her giant pizzas. You never left the Stevens house hungry. Susan’s beautiful smile and loving heart will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. Stevens in 1988, Sister-Judy McWilliams, Brothers-Thomas Brewster and David Brewster, Mother and Father-in-law-Jerry and Orville Wright, Brothers-in-law-Jack Wright and Duane Stevens Services honoring Susan’s life and legacy will take place at 5 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 West Walnut Street, Summitville with Rev. David Reames officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville. The family will receive friends after 3 pm on Saturday prior to the services at the funeral home. Social distancing with appropriate face masking will be observed. Owens-Noffze Funeral Home is honored to serve the Stevens family.
