Sybil Bates Henderson May 01, 1927 – August 10, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Sybil Bates Henderson May 1, 1927 – August 10, 2020 Sybil Estelle Bates Henderson, 93, of Lacoochee, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2020, in Dade City, Florida. Sybil was born in Cullman, Alabama on May 1, 1927 to Lula Gossett Bates and Herbert Bates. She and her husband, John, moved their family to Lacoochee in 1953 and she made her home there for 67 years. She was a homemaker, caretaker, loving mother and grandmother. She also worked for a period of time at Lacoochee Elementary School. She was a member of the Trilacoochee Church of Christ and cherished her church family. She loved her pet cat, Baby Doll, and regularly read scriptures and sang Amazing Grace to her. She enjoyed watching The Price is Right, Mike and Molly and the local news on TV. She also enjoyed listening to Gospel music sung by Alan Jackson, Jim Reeves, Ray Price and Willie Nelson. Sybil was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, John Henderson; 5 brothers and 2 sisters; a son-in-law; daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. Keeping her in their fondest memories are her children, James Henderson of Webster, FL; Linda Groover (Roger) of Dade City, FL; Mary Nachbar (Steve) of Zephyrhills, FL; Patricia Puckett and Phyllis Henderson both of Dade City, FL; 9 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Morrow of Saline, MI and two brothers: Leon Bates of Bushnell, FL and Floyd Bates of Baileyton, AL. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2020, at Hodges Funeral Home, US Hwy 301 South, Dade City, FL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Floral Memory Gardens. Face Masks are required.
