Richard “Rick”‘s Obituary Richard D. “Rick” Threlkel, 72, of Memphis, IN, passed away at 12:02 AM on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at his home. Rick was born Sunday, November 9, 1947 in Jeffersonville, IN. He was the son of Howard Threlkel and Delphia (Raymer) Leitner who are both deceased. Rick briefly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 13, 2000, Rick married Allyson (Campbell) Threlkel who survives in Memphis, IN. Rick was a retired Union Carpenter. While living in Texas he was a true cowboy and was the head of a ranch and ran its daily operations. He also owned and operated a western wear store while living in Franklin, TN. Rick was a member of the NRA, Sellersburg Moose Lodge, and American Legion Post # 204. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing, competitive team roping and NASCAR with his favorite driver being Dale Jarrett. He lived an eventful life where he loved aggravating everyone and being a big jokester. Other survivors include 2 sons, Kevin (Pam) Threlkel of Sellersburg, IN, Lucas Threlkel of Kansas, 2 stepchildren, Sarah Butler of Clarksville, IN, Christopher Butler of Sellersburg, IN, 2 grandchildren, Jordan Connor Threlkel and Jordan Christopher Butler, 2 siblings, Larry Threlkel of Memphis, IN, and Marlene (Leon) Kirkpatrick of Underwood, IN. He was also preceded in death by a son, Russell Threlkel and 3 siblings, Betty Jean Tomes, Gastell McDonald and Thomas Threlkel. Visitation is from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory with cremation to follow. Please follow the CDC’s recommendations and guidelines while attending the visitation and funeral service. Masks are required per state mandates.
