Obituary On Saturday, August 8, 2020, Michael Schnepf, devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many passed away surrounded by family at the age of 31 after a 10-month fight against an extremely rare and incurable disease that targeted his brain. Michael was born on July 9, 1989, in Fargo, to Kevin and Linda Schnepf. He had a childhood full of laughter, love, and many happy memories; specifically, with his two sisters Richelle and Hannah who both considered him a best friend. Michael attended West Fargo High School where he excelled in both academics and sports, with a passion for basketball. Despite his many successes, he would quickly tell you that his greatest accomplishment during this time was asking his future wife, Tania, to junior prom. After high school, he attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Management. He began his career as an employee owner at Border States Electric, where he looked forward to continuing to leave a positive impact on the company and peers through his work as the Data & Analytics Manager. Michael’s world revolved around his high school sweetheart and wife of six years, Tania, and their two daughters Madelyn (3 years) and Ruby (18 months). Michael’s love and commitment to his family was evident in every one of his decisions and actions. He and Tania built a life full of happiness and one that they were both proud of. Michael also took great pride in the close friendship and love that he shared with his parents and sisters. Although he put up with teasing and many jokes at his expense, he cherished how well they got along. Michael’s reach extended past his immediate family and touched many through friendships and work. He had a sense of humor that caught you off guard and could make almost anyone laugh. He also loved sports and committed his loyalty to the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves, regardless of multiple seasons of letdown. Michael was genuine in his actions, he worked hard and never took short cuts, he put others before himself, and he set an example of how to live a life full of gratitude. Throughout his illness, many prayed for a miracle. While the miracle we hoped for wasn’t granted, everyone can agree that having Michael in our lives was the true miracle. Michael was taken from us far too soon, but those who knew him were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from him and will cherish his memory. Michael is survived by his wife Tania and their girls Madelyn and Ruby, West Fargo; his parents Kevin and Linda Schnepf, West Fargo; his sister Richelle (Tom, Vivian, & Hal) Bishoff, West Fargo; his sister Hannah (Taylor) Holte, West Fargo; his father and mother in-law Todd and Tammy Peters, West Fargo; his sister in-law Tara Peters (Brett James), West Fargo; his many cousins, extended family members, friends, and co-workers.
