Cunard, Jr., known by many as “Markus A. Caighn”, 33, of Williamstown, NJ, passed away suddenly on August 11, 2020. Mark was a graduate of Williamstown High School, Class of 2005 and the Audio Recording Technology Institute, Orlando, Florida in 2007. He worked as an Audio Engineer and as a direct support professional for Premiere Behavioral in Sicklerville. Loving father of his 13-year-old rescue dog, Zombie Zeus. Loving son of Winnie Harty-Cunard and Mark Cunard (Joann Calcese). Beloved boyfriend of Kate Simpson. Dear brother of Dennis Cunard (Julie). Dear uncle of Connor Cunard. Loving grandson of Linda Cunard (Perry Conant), the late Alfred Cunard III, the late Patrick Harty and the late Mary Jane Harty. Also survived by many loving cousins, aunts and uncles. Mark deeply loved his family and cherished all the great times they spent traveling on road trip vacations, camping, and summers at the Stone Harbor family beach house. Mark played high school football and was Captain of the Braves Ice Hockey Team and famous for breaking his sticks often with his “wicked” slap shots! He loved passing to the other team just so he could check them. After high school Mark trained and competed as a MMA fighter. Mark loved Halloween and working haunted trails, Paranormal Ghost Hunting adventures and the number 13. He was an accomplished guitar player and song composer; who taught himself to play any instrument he picked up. Even the didgeridoo. (Time out inserted here so you can Google it) Mark was involved with several local film productions for which he was the audio engineer and wrote the musical scores. Founding member of the bands Shadow Rose, In Righteous Arm, and Pog Mo Thoin. Mark was an avid Flyers Fan and wrote “RISE (Bullies With Pride)” as a tribute to the Flyers (YouTube it – “Papa Caighn”) and loved the music of DropKick Murphys. Mark also enjoyed knife and hatchet throwing long before it became a social activity. And we know how Mark felt about social activities. He was also ahead of his time with performing Jackass like stunts before the show, to include bicycle jousting. Mark was a BIG man with an even bigger loving and passionate heart. He taught so many people so many things and when you finished talking to him you were left with having learned something new and better for it. Even through his suffering he put others first and took care of those who couldn’t care for themselves. Mark loved to have fun and play jokes and prank people. All should be on the lookout, for Mark may no longer be with us in the physical world, you never know when his spirit will show up to say “Hi!” Be vigilant on any given HALLOWEEN or any FRIDAY the 13th. To all his friends: Even though there was distance there has always been a bond. The outpouring of love and appreciation expressed by so many who have wonderful memories of Mark is so heartwarming to all of us. He will always be loved by his family and will be missed beyond belief. Services are being held privately at the request of the family.
