Obituary Gaius L. “Larry” Collier, 53, of Canal Winchester, died Friday, August 14, 2020 at his home. He was born October 9, 1966 in Lexington, KY, a son of Mary Hightower White, who survives, and the late Emanuel Collier. Larry retired as a corrections officer of SOCF and he was an Army veteran. He graduated from Middlesboro (KY) High School and had attended the University of Tennessee. Surviving is his wife, Doreene Booker Collier, whom he married October 5, 2006 in Ashland, KY; his mother, Mary White of Dallas, TX; a son, Jonah Lamar Booker of Scottsdale, AZ; two daughters, Ashley Collier-Ward of Sweetwater, TN and LaToya Collier of Middlesboro, KY; two brothers, LeEmanuel Collier and David Mallory Collier, both of Dallas; three sisters, Mariann Collier of Prescott, AZ, Carrol Collier of Chicago, IL and Venice Collier of Dallas, TX; and five grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helene Collier. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Elder Etta Reeves officiating. Interment will be in Soldier’s Circle at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. The James Dickey Post #23 Honor Detail will conduct Military Rites. Due to state and local health regulations, masks are required and will not be provided.
