Irene’s Obituary Dateline: Williamston, NC Irene Whaley Mills, 69 of Ballard Rd. died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Mills was born on January 14, 1951 in Onslow County to the late Hubert and Mary Lee Dixon Whaley. She was a machine operator at Southern Apparel. She was preceded in death by brothers Hubert Lee and Kenneth Earl Whaley. Survivors include; daughter, Jesse Hinson of Kinston; son, Timothy Mills of Greenwood, MS; sisters, Joyce Roberson of Williamston and Barbara Woolard of Bear Grass; half-sister, Marlena Whaley of Coakley; grandchildren, Joseph Cowan, Phillip Cox and Matthew Mills; great grandchildren, Phillip Cox, Jr., Christopher Blake Cox and Hunter Cox. Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 3:00 PM at the home of Jennette Steward, 11091 US Hwy 17, Williamston, NC.
