Irene’s Obituary Irene Overton, 81, of Dell, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. Irene was born in Dell to Mart and Velma Champion Gross. She was retired from American Greetings and was of the Baptist Faith. Irene enjoyed going fishing and going to Tunica. Family was important to Irene and she loved spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Alvin, Buddy, Albert and Mart Gross; and two sisters, Velma Duckworth and Shelby Wallace. Irene leaves four children, Charlotte Sears and her husband Dale of Atkins, Arkansas, Pamela White of Gosnell, Marsha Overton of Manila and Andy Overton and his wife Darla of Steele; one sister, Edith Riggs of Dell; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of Irene’s friends will be held Wednesday evening, August 12th, at Cobb Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. There will be no service. Following the State of Arkansas COVID-19 guidelines, no more than 100 people will be allowed to gather inside of Cobb Funeral Home at one time and practice social distancing, keeping a 6-foot distance between one another.
