Elaine Tyler Hoge, age 92, passed from this life on June 30, 2020 at Oak Tree Assisted Living in New Braunfels, TX. She grew up on a ranch owned by her father, Vernon D. Wells, in south-central Kansas, attending middle school in Barber County, KS and high school in Wichita, KS. As part of growing up on a Kansas ranch in the 1940s, she always loved the land, the animals, and the work of country life. She attended and graduated from the Kansas State Chiropractic College in Wichita in 1949. Additionally, she met her first husband, Dr. H. Dale Hamm, while attending the Kansas State Chiropractic College, and subsequently they were married in 1950, having two children, Steven D. Hamm and Brent V. Hamm. While living in Herington KS following college, Elaine was extremely dedicated to her family as a wife and mother, as well as being active in multiple community organizations and groups. She worked alongside Dale, supporting their business, as the only chiropractor in Herington through the 1970s. Throughout her adult life, she was a devout Christian worker for the Lord, lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and was the driving force while living in Herington, KS through the 1970s to maintain the Herington Church of Christ open and operational in that community. Following the death of her first husband, she moved to Wichita, KS, and worked for Dopps Chiropractic. She subsequently married Addison Tyler in 1984, and following Addison’s death, married Lee R. Hoge in 2004. While living in Wichita, her heart was always with the Emporia Avenue Church of Christ, where she regularly attended services for over 16 years. Elaine was always of great encouragement for her family and friends, enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, working with her flowers and plants, and always enjoyed her family pets. She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Dr. H. Dale Hamm (in 1978), Addison Tyler (in 2003), and Lee R. Hoge (in 2019), her father, Vernon D. Wells, her mother, Florence Wells, her sisters, Ann and Marion. She was always extremely proud of her two sons, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Cairo Cemetery, Cairo.
