Smith June 26, 1963 – August 27, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Brenda, 57, of Avon, passed away at home late Thursday evening with her loving family by her bedside. A visitation will take place 5:00 pm until the service time at 7:00 pm Monday, Aug. 31, 2020 at BARTLETT CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, located at 4396 E. Main St. in Avon, In. A private graveside and committal service will take place in Shiloh Methodist Cemetery in Avon. Brenda was born in Indianapolis to the late James L. “Jim” Smith, and Margaret (Parker) Smith Brooks. She was a graduate of Avon High School with the class of 1981, and later received a BA degree in elementary education from Indiana University. Because of her love for children, especially those with special educational needs, Brenda has been the Special Education Teacher at Cedar Elementary School in Avon for several years. Far from being just a member of Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church all of her life, she has reached out in ministries of the church, especially those involving children. The family has asked that contributions be given to Bartlett Chapel in Brenda’s memory. Survivors include her loving mother and step-father Margaret and Jerry Brooks, nephew, Christopher Smith, great nephews, Nehemiah Smith, Nathaniel Burkhart, Kaydyn and Oliver Brinley, and a great niece, Serenity Brinley. Along with her father, Jim, Brenda was preceded in death by a brother, Brian W. Smith, and a niece Kori Smith. WEAVER & RANDOLPH FUNERAL HOME DANVILLE has ben entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
