Rochester: Thursday, July 9th, 2020. Predeceased by her son Peter (2017) and her husband Michael (1970). Also predeceased by sisters, Hanya, Michelina, Julia and her brother Mykola. She is survived by her children, Paul (Lorraine) Stasiw and Darleen (David) Pulito; daughter-in-law, Kathleen; grandchildren, Adam and Greg Stasiw, Daniel and Michael Pulito, Katherine, Christine, Mikaela and Matthew Stasiw; several nieces and nephews. Stephanie was born in Lviv, Ukraine. WWII brought her to Austria and Germany where she lived in a displaced person camp with her parents, Stefan and Kataryna Gaida, sisters, Hanya, Michelina, Julie, brother, Mykola, until they emigrated to Canada. There she met her husband, Michael and with him she moved to the United States. Together they raised three children, who were the focus of Stephanie’s life. Widowed at a young age and at that moment she became the most loving determined mother, father and provider to her three young children. Her passions were her love of God, grandchildren, cooking Ukrainian food and making others feel loved. She was affectionately known as “Baba” to all who knew, cared and loved her. We will miss her feisty personality and sweet forehead kisses. The family would like to extend their gratitude to St. John’s Home Hastings 1 unit for the exceptional care they gave to Baba. Friends are welcome Monday, July 13th from 5-7pm at the Michael R. Yackiw Funeral Home, 1650 Empire Blvd. (near Plank Rd.) where her funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 14th at 11am.
