She was born in Meta on August 3, 1928, daughter of the late Dr. Henry Luetkemeyer and Regina (Dickneite) Luetkemeyer. On February 4, 1950, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta, Margie married the love of her life, Francis “Fritz” Luebbert, who preceded her in death on April 3, 2016. Margie attended and graduated from Meta High School. Following graduation, she worked for various businesses including Southwestern Bell in St. Louis, Neely Factory in Meta, McKay Buick in Jefferson City, Missouri Department of Civil Defense, Meta City Clerk, and had a successful 50 year career at Meta State Bank where she served as Vice President and Secretary of the Board. Margie was a career woman before it was fashionable. Her banking career saw Meta State Bank/Mid America Bank grow from less than one million dollars to over four hundred million. In her role as Vice-President of Meta State Bank, she was instrumental in helping local business grow. She was a lifelong resident of Meta, Missouri and through her dedication and love of her community, she helped foster numerous civic projects such as the Meta ballpark and Civic League Hall. She was involved in the St. Cecilia Parish, Ladies Sodality and Meta Civic League. Margie taught us all to put family first, always have a good time and that faith is the most important thing. She touched many lives with her generosity and her loving heart. No one was a stranger to Margie and everyone felt welcome in Meta at Margie and Fritz’s home on the hill. Sitting under the shade tree, having a beer and listening to the Cardinals are somethings we will always remember and miss. She is survived by four children, Kathy Robertson and husband Glenn of Loose Creek, Steven Luebbert and wife Andrea of Webster Groves, Mark Luebbert and wife Kim of Loose Creek, Kris Stegeman and husband Danny of Folk; 11 grandchildren, Jon Robertson (Cindy), Julie Brandt (Steve), Ryan Robertson (Marla), Matt Robertson (Erica), Stephen Luebbert (Melissa), Alex Luebbert (Meghan), Katie Byrd (Ian), Tyler Luebbert (Gretchen), Connor Luebbert, Regina Stegeman, and Danielle Stegeman; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Peg Luetkemeyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant great-granddaughter, Maggie Brandt and five brothers, Antone (Eileen), George (Cordula), Larry (JoAnn), Charles (Jane), and Jim Luetkemeyer. A private family Mass of Christian Burial is being held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with Rev. Leonard Mukiibi officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery in Meta. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to COMM-UNITY Ambulance or St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
