Obituary Lonnie Carter passed away July 13, 2020 in Taylorsville, Utah. He was born April 1, 1934 in Millsap Texas to Robert Carter and Mary Jo Turner Carter. He joined the US Marines in 1951 and after basic training PVT Carter was shipped to Korea to the Korean Conflict. He left the Marine Corp after 3 years and joined the Army. He was on the United States rifle team when he met his soul mate Patricia Parker on a blind date in Kansas City Missouri. They married February 4, 1959 and left for his next duty station Ft. Hood, Texas. He was an excellent marksman and received trophies. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, Korea, Alaska, Washington and traveled over the USA on the Rifle Team 1958-1958 Other places they lived: Wertheim Germany, Ft Sill Oklahoma, Erlangen Germany. They lived with a German family in Adlitz Germany for 6 months while waiting for military housing. Then, Fort Riley Kansas for jungle training. Vietnam 1966-67. He received an Army Commendation Medal while in Vietnam. From Vietnam to Logan Utah as a Utah State University Army Advisor, then Ft. Douglas Utah Readiness Group. Schweinfurt Germany from 1977-1979 and retired from the Army in Colorado Springs Colorado in July 1979. He retired as Master Sergeant. After retiring, he attended Salt Lake Community College and received a degree in Business. He loved golfing and the opportunity to play at the Old St. Andrews course in Scotland. When he could, he golfed everyday. His Toyota truck was his baby, it had over 500,000 miles with the original engine and transmission but had to give it up when someone hit the truck and caused so much damage it could not be saved. His grandson Zeke Carter has been his faithful caregiver for the past 2 years. Grandpa needed so much help and Zeke was there for him 24/7. They loved each other and enjoyed sharing stories. Lonnie is survived by his wife Pat Carter, son Randy Carter, daughters Tamara (Robert) Englert, Florida, Marci Carter, Tennessee, brother Bobby Carter (Sue). 13 Grandkids Zeke Carter (Amanda), Andrew Toala, Brittney Carter, Kenzi Carter, Mary Carter, Scottie Carter, Jessica Razon, Robert Englert Jr., Alicia Englert (Tim), Tricia Englert (Colton), Shantel Wardle, Jeremy Wardle, Jared M Terry (Liann), and 10 Great Grandkids Preceded in death by his parents, sister Veba Senfft, brother Mitchell Carter and niece Judy Kay Graham.
