She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ray Gay, mother, Cathryn L (Long) Clark, and father John George Wear. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born on December 2, 1941 in Bay City, TX to Cathryn and John Wear. She married Claude Gay on February 19th, 1959. After Claude was discharged from the Army, they returned to Bay City, TX to live until 1966 when they moved to Sweeny, Texas. There for the next 54 years, she raised 3 girls, graduated from Brazosport Junior College, operated a day care, worked for Pettigrew Electronics and Intermedics and worked for a short time as a city water meter reader. In 1979, the family moved to a small farm just outside the city limits. She is survived by her children Cynthia Shook (David), Christina Royster (James), and Claudette Gray (Brandon). Her 4 grandchildren Kristin Cooper Woods, Heather Cooper, Steven Cooper Jr., Melissa Coleman and 6 great-grandchildren Trenton Shook, Benjamin Hurst, Christopher Hurst, Nicholas Pyles, Steven Cooper III, Dana Cooper. She is also survived by her brother, Randall Clark, twin sister, Judy Byrd and sister Mary Glazner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
