Obituary Ernest W. “Ernie” Cole, 74 of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 30, at UnityPoint Health–Allen Hospital ER. He was born June 4, 1946 in Waterloo, son of David and Elsie Bushel Cole. He married Cathy Neubauer and later divorced. He then married Patricia Miller Fleming Oct. 15, 1977 in Washington Park, Waterloo. Ernie graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1964. He worked maintenance at Wonder Bread Bakery for 39 years. He was currently an inspector at Powers Engineering. Survived by: his wife of Waterloo; a son, Kevin Cole of Mesquite, Nev.; three step-sons, Chris (Megan Olmstead) Fleming, Mark (Nancy Sligh) Fleming and Patrick Fleming, all of Waterloo; his step-daughter Terry (Jason Smith) Gentz of Mayetta, Kan.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by his brother, David Cole. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is assisting the family.
