Dee E Cross was born on April 12, 1924 in Lawrence County, AL to Fernando and Bertha Cross. He went to be with the Lord on July 30, 2020. Dee was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained while fighting in the Rhine Valley late in WWII. He retired from the US Post Office in 1986. His interests included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for over 48 years. He served faithfully as an usher and was involved in the bus ministry for many years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Cross; 4 children, Oakland Dee Cross (Cappy), Carol Perry, Pam Richardson (David), Teresa Buchanan (Terry); 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Gordon, Elliot, and Andy Cross; and a sister, Eunice Sparks. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Bethel Baptist Churc h on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 11 am – 1 pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Hill South Cemetery.
