Obituary Charles “Charlie” Kenneth Benge, age 73, of Marion, NC passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Charlie was born December 30, 1946 in McDowell County, NC to the late Bill Benge and Beulah Edwards Mann. He enjoyed fishing, football, racing and especially bowling. At one time he had his own bowling team called “Charlie’s Angels”. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Vernan Benge. Those left behind to cherish Charlie’s memory are his wife of 40 years, Bobbie Zullo Benge; four children, Joshua Benge (Celesta), Charlie Danielle Benge, Peggy Sotelo (Jerry) and Sandra Dobbins; seven siblings, Leonard Benge, David Benge, Vincent Benge, Jimmy Benge, Susie Ayers, Shelby Morrison and Wade Benge; nine grandchildren, Brooke, Andrew, Nathan, Tiffany, Brandon, Anthony, Kelly, Jessie and Seth; and several great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Watson officiating.
