Ford was born May 14, 1926 in San Antonio, Texas and was a life long resident of San Antonio. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, father Susano Ramirez; mother Maria de la Fuente Ramirez; brothers Richard Ramirez, Francisco Flores and Charles Allen Ford; sisters Mary F. Perez, Mary R. Chavez, Amelia R. Dominguez and Lucia R. Guevara. Ruth is survived by her son Robert E. Ford; daughters Elizabeth Ford and Mary Esther Castillo; granddaughter Anne-Marie Griego; great grandson Luke Griego; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and her four legged kids Flaco and Farah. Ruth had fond memories of family picnics along the Guadalupe River, weekend trips to Padre Island, making tamales for her kids, and outings with her great grandson. She loved her children, granddaughter and great grandson, as well as her nephews and nieces. She enjoyed her weekly telephone calls from her nephew Ron, and appreciated the affection and caring help from her nieces Stella, Ana Maria and Rose. Ruth was a hard working, prayerful lady who got her first job at the age of 16, and due to World War II, was later able to get hired at Kelly Air Field. Her break in federal civil service came in 1962 when she became a full time mother. Twelve years later she returned to the work force and civil service at Fort Sam Houston. To her surprise the job she had done with pen, paper and an old adding machine had been computerized. Initially she was apprehensive, but through sheer determination and faith in God, she became proficient and trained new employees. To her children, Ruth was a fabulous cook, a confidante, a loyal friend, prayer warrior, and loving mother, who will be dearly missed. Please come and join the family of Ruth R. Services are as follows: Monday – May 11, 2020 4pm-9pm – Visitation to be held at the Texas Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. Tuesday – May 12, 2020 8am-9:15am – Visitation to be held at the Texas Funeral Home Chapel 9:30am – Departure from funeral home 10am – Catholic Church Mass at San Juan De Los Lagos, 3231 El Paso St., San Antonio, TX 78207 11:30 – Cemetery Service – San Fernando II Cemetery, 746 Castroville Rd., San Antonio, TX 78237 *** Services will be led by police procession*** Print Obituary
