Rachel Simerson May 03, 1935 – May 21, 2020 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Mrs. Rachel Knupp Simerson, 85, of Grayson Creek Assisted Living, formerly of the Tyro Community died Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a drive-in funeral service will be Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Tyro United Methodist Church, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. Randy Foster. A private family interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Simerson was born May 3, 1935 in McDowell County to the late Fred Garland and Cora Jolly Knupp. She was a homemaker, very active in her church, and was known for her excellent cooking skills. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin L. “Bunny” Simerson, Sr., four brothers, and five sisters. Surviving are step-son Eddie Simerson (Connie) of Lexington; step-daughter Sandy Morrow (Dale) of Statesville; step-grandchildren Corey Simerson, Ali Simerson Wall (Charlie) and Angie Crews (Richard); step-great-grandchildren Burke, Will, Eliza, Chase, David, Jake, and Andrew; and special niece Nancy Knupp Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tyro United Methodist Church, 4484 South NC Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
