Obituary Rabun “Kermit” Powell, Jr., 73, of Collins, died Saturday, May 9, 2020 at his residence under the care of his wife and hospice. He was born in Statesboro and grew up in Collins and he was the son of Rabun Powell, Sr. and Annie Ruth Martin Powell Cartee. Kermit graduated from Collins High School in 1964. Kermit married Donna Osborne June 25, 1965. Kermit and Donna lived in Jesup from 1965 until moving to Collins in 2000. Kermit worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation in Jesup and retired several years ago. In years past, Kermit loved to hunt and fish and absolutely loved shooting skeet competitively at several events. Surviving are his wife, Donna Osborne Powell of Collins; and several extended family and friends, including Joe Earls and Gary Gibbs. The graveside service will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. All social distancing guidelines will be observed. Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2020 from 5 until 7 o’clock in the evening at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel. All social distancing guidelines will be observed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 2130 Cedar Creek Church Road, Collins, Georgia, 30421 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
