OBITUARY Pharis O Floyd Pharis O. Floyd, 81 years of East Carondelet, IL, passed away on May 4, 2020 at Integrity Health Care of Columbia, IL. He was born August 19, 1938, in Holcomb, MO, the son of Fred and L. Alma nee Wilson Floyd, who preceded him in death. He was raised in Southeast Missouri and attended Maple Grove Baptist Church. In September of 1963, Pharis moved his family to Cahokia, IL. He worked for his cousin, Welton Prewitt at Prewitt’s Standard Service Station. In 1965, he borrowed $350 to purchase the station, which was renamed as Floyd’s Standard Service and later Floyd’s Amoco. He enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime, including gardening and camping, and he especially enjoyed boating on the Kaskaskia River and at Kentucky Lake. He loved the outdoors, sunshine, and time with family and friends. He had a wicked sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He frequently donated to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and many other charitable organizations. Pharis was a dedicated Cahokia businessman for over 55 years. Surviving are his wife, Patricia nee Ewanchen Floyd, whom he married in 1994; his nine daughters, Paula (David) Hall, Vicki LePere, Sherri (John) Laurin, Jennifer McClure, Tammy Nipper, Sherry (Tim) Dycus, Terry (Bruce) Bixby, Kelly Jo (Rick) Nipper, Bobbie (Greg) Radford; his grandchildren, Julia, Lauren, Caleb, Dominic, Emma, Daniel, Jonathan, Bradley, Keira, Aislinn, Jimi, Mandy, BJ, Sara, Erika, Buddy, and Kylie; his great-grandchildren, Cohle, Quentin, Evelyn, Tony, Owen, Olivia, McKayla, Jayda, Jaxon, Jasper, Bryson, and Lucas, and his 1st great-great grandson, Kashton; his two sisters, Moyra Crain and Peggy Rooker, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barb and Dave Reeder; his brother-in-law, Rich Burke, along with other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Pharis was preceded in death by his grandson, Tony Nipper; his brother-in-law, Bill Crain, his brother-in-law, Earl Rooker; his brother-in-law, Tony Ewachen, his brother-in-law, Johnny Ewachen; his sister-in-law, Nina Burke, his two nephews, Daniel Murphy and Ricky Burke. Private Memorial visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2020, at Leesman Funeral Home, Dupo, IL. Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, all services will be private. The family requests that if you wish to offer your condolences, please honk your car horn as you drive by the funeral home. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Judes or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
