Obituary Of Rankin, a recent resident of Concordia in Monroeville, age 94, died on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Rocco Stio for 49 years. Loving and dear mother of Roseanne (Danny) Shak of Wilkins Twp. Cherished grandmother of Daniel and Nico Shak. Sister of the late Mary (late Clarence) Olexa and the late Frank P. Giordano. Nancy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy was a graduate of Rankin High School in 1944, along with her future husband, Rocky. She became employed at Giant Eagle in Braddock as a cashier and eventually moved to the Braddock Hills store. She retired as their Front End Manager after over 50 years with Giant Eagle. Nancy loved to cook and bake for her family and was great at it. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish in Braddock and was an avid, regular attendee at the weekly parish bingo game. While at Concordia, It was very important to Nancy to be able to join in the bingo game there, as well. In the 1990’s Nancy and Rocky were well-known as coordinators of monthly bus trips to Atlantic City to visit casinos. Due to the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic, Nancy’s viewing and Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd Church will be private to her family.
