Obituary Manuel Cunha, 68, of Rhode Island Boulevard, Portsmouth, passed away at the Newport Hospital, early Tuesday morning, April 28, 2020. He was the husband of Nelia (Bairos) Cunha. Born on Sept. 28, 1951, in Santa Maria, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose and Maria (Farpelha) Cunha. In addition to his wife of 44 years, he leaves his daughter, Karie DaSilva and her husband Gary of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Tyler, Olivia and Madaline DaSilva; his sister, Deolinda Bairos (Jose) of East Providence; and his brothers, Jose Pedro Cunha (Mariazinha), Antonio Cunha (Tammy), and Octavio Cunha, all of East Providence; his mother-in-law, Maria Zelia Bairos of Portsmouth; his sister-in-law, Juvenalia Sousa of Santa Maria, Azores, his sister-in-law, Aida Teodoro (Antonio) of Westport, his brother-in-law Angelo Bairos (Maria) of Rehoboth and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Kevin M. Cunha, the son-in-law of the late Ernesto Bairos and the brother-in-law of the late Antonio Costa Sousa. Services with burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery are private. Relatives and friends will gather for a memorial mass, at a future date at St. Francis Xavier Church, East Providence.
